Track&Act+ vs Todoist

A to-do list that measures progress

Todoist is an excellent task manager, and it runs everywhere. Track&Act+ is built for a different question: not just what's next, but how far along am I — with each item weighted by how much it matters.

An honest answer

Which one should you pick?

Pick Todoist if…

  • you need your tasks on an iPhone, a Mac, a Windows PC, Linux or the web, not only Android;
  • your work is mostly a stream of tasks, and you want a mature, widely used tool for it.

Pick Track&Act+ if…

  • you want to see how far along a project, goal or week is — weighted, not just counted;
  • you time your work, or bill for it, and want the timer inside the list;
  • your lists aren't all to-dos: goals with targets, limits to stay under, trends, shopping;
  • you're on Android.

The idea behind it

Why weighted progress?

Ten ticked boxes out of twenty reads as 50% — even if the ten left are the ones that matter. Track&Act+ lets each item carry an importance, and the percentage becomes a weighted average. Finish the big thing and the number jumps; clear five small things and it nudges.

Goals with a target

Build / Achieve lists track toward a number — 14 of 20 miles — where more is better.

Limits to stay under

Reduce / Eliminate lists track where less is better. Success is staying within the limit.

One honest number

Every list, of every type, rolls up into a single score — plus streaks, a habit heatmap and a Dashboard to see momentum.
